Program Overview

The Master of Engineering (MEng) is a one-year, coursework-based program that is designed for engineering graduates who want to enhance their technical and professional skills to have a competitive edge in today’s job market.

Enhance your skills by taking cutting-edge graduate courses taught by leading Civil engineering faculty members.

Our 1-year MEng program requires 8 term-length courses, including an optional project course mentored by a faculty member.

You do not require a faculty supervisor to apply for and be accepted to the MEng program.

How long does the MEng program take to complete?

The MEng program offers students the option to complete their degree in either two (Fall/Winter) or three (Fall/Winter/Spring) academic terms. The academic requirements for degree completion are identical for both 2-term or 3-term streams. The overall tuition amount for both options is equal; per-term billing, however, is determined by dividing the total tuition for the academic year by the number of academic terms that the student is scheduled to participate in the program for that academic year.

Admission and Application

  • 4-year undergraduate or bachelor’s degree with a minimum B- (70%) average
  • Applicants with a science or mathematics degree may be admitted
  • We consider grades from all 4-years, with higher weight to courses in your last 2-years

English Proficiency Requirements

  • For international students, a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper based) or a TOEFL iBT total score of 88/120 (minimum of 24/30 writing, 22/30 speaking, 22/30 reading, 20/30 listening) or an IELTS overall band score of 7.0

Application Deadline: March 1

Notification of Acceptance: Rolling acceptances will be given 8 weeks after your application is complete.

Please note that the deadline for a complete application to be considered for the MEng program is March 1 of each year without exception. Admission to the MEng program is restricted to September only of each academic year, and the department reserves the right to limit the number of new MEng students accepted each year.

Funding

Students enrolled in the MEng program receive no funding support of any kind from the department (e.g., TA, GRF, internal scholarships).
